A rack of 7 consonants (like HJKLVWZ) is nearly unplayable. After each turn, try to leave a balanced mix — roughly 3 vowels and 4 consonants. If you're stuck with an imbalanced rack, consider exchanging tiles even though it costs you a turn.
The S is the most versatile tile — it pluralizes words and hooks onto existing plays. Never waste an S on a low-scoring word. Save it for when it can pluralize a high-value play or connect two words simultaneously.
Before placing a word, check what openings you're creating. If your play exposes a Triple Word Score lane, your opponent will capitalize on it. Sometimes a slightly lower-scoring word that blocks access to premium squares is the smarter long-term play.
You can't see your opponent's tiles, but you can track which letters have been played. If all four S tiles are gone, you know your opponent can't pluralize. This information helps you play more aggressively near the endgame.
